Kandy, Sri Lanka is the place of birth of Muttiah Muralitharan. He was born on 1972, 7 April to his parents Sinnasamy Muttiah and Lakshmi Muttiah. His father was a prominent businessman and used to run a massive biscuit manufacturing business. While his mother was a homemaker.
As many young kids, Muttiah Muralitharan also used to play different kinds of sports. Eventually, he grew a fondness towards cricket and began pursuing it professionally.
He began practicing at a local cricket academy in Sri Lanka under the guidance of his coach, Sunil Fernando. At first, Muttiah Muralitharan began as a medium pacer, however later on, after listening to several suggestions from his coach, he began off – spin bowling and the rest is history.
